Wieso Matrix Systems GmbH?

Why Matrix Systems GmbH?

Innovation, sustainability, and passion – that’s the foundation of everything we do

At Matrix Systems GmbH, we believe in intelligent systems that connect – people, ideas, and structures. Our passion lies in developing and manufacturing modular, reusable aluminum systems for exhibition construction, event architecture, and temporary spatial design. What drives us is the pursuit of combining functionality, design, and sustainability into one seamless solution – creating systems that are efficient, flexible, and built to last.

Our Values – Driven by Passion and Purpose

We take pride in what we do – and in the people behind it. Honesty, openness, and mutual respect define how we work – both within our team and with our clients. For us, partnership means working toward a shared goal: creating sustainable, flexible solutions that deliver real results in practice. We share our knowledge, encourage creativity, and continuously improve our products with passion, innovation, and commitment – because true success comes from collaboration and purpose.

Sustainability – Responsibility That Connects

For us, sustainability is not a trend – it’s a commitment. Our products are designed for durability, reusability, and long-term value – from concept and production to logistics and installation. We focus on resource-efficient processes, short transport routes, and environmentally conscious materials, combining ecological thinking with economic efficiency. This approach ensures that our systems not only perform today but also stand the test of time – a true investment in a sustainable future.

Aluminum – Strong, Lightweight and Infinitely Recyclable

At the heart of our systems lies aluminum – a material as versatile as our solutions. Although aluminum is the third most abundant element on Earth, we use exclusively recycled material in our production. Our specially alloyed aluminum, enriched with magnesium and silicon, is durable, corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and built to last – and it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality. In this way, we actively contribute to the circular economy and minimize the environmental footprint of our manufacturing process.

Our Vision

We are shaping the future of exhibition and spatial design – modular, sustainable, and infinitely adaptable. Matrix Systems stands for Swiss quality, technological precision, and genuine partnership – from the initial idea to the finished solution.

Matrix made in Switzerland.

The History of Matrix Systems GmbH

From an Idea to a System – Swiss Innovation Since 1993

Who invented the holes in Swiss cheese?
This playful question became the inspiration behind a revolution in modular architecture – and the beginning of the Matrix Systems story. Back in 1993, the exhibition industry was changing. Companies were looking for individual, seamless booth designs without visible frames or structures. System construction needed to remain functional but visually unobtrusive. Searching for answers, I visited EuroShop in Düsseldorf, the world’s leading trade fair for exhibition and retail design. It was there that innovation, architecture, and technology converged – halogen lamps replaced bulbs, but a truly new construction system was nowhere to be found. Then, at a Belgian lighting manufacturer, I discovered a steel shelving system with perforated profiles. When I asked if it could be used as a construction element, the answer was simple:

We only sell lighting fixtures.

But the idea stuck. I visited the factory, purchased sample profiles, and began developing my own product. Steel became aluminum, development costs were invested – and I asked the crucial question:

Can aluminum profiles be bent?

The result was a breakthrough. Soon, I became one of the largest buyers in Europe. Partnership mattered more to me than patents, and the new Matrix architectural system quickly convinced professionals across the continent. In 1997, my exclusive distribution rights were revoked – but instead of giving up, I took control of production myself. The brand was born: Matrix – Made in Switzerland. A legal dispute in Zurich followed, but the court ruled:

„Perforated profiles have long been an industry standard.“

That decision cleared the path for the founding of Matrix Systems GmbH and the creation of a globally protected brand. Since then, Matrix Systems has stood for innovation, precision, and Swiss quality – redefining how modular systems can shape space and architecture. The holes may no longer define our design, but efficiency, precision, and quick assembly remain at the heart of everything we do.
One of our most valued long-term partners, Swiss Post, continues to demonstrate how strong brands can make a lasting impression – with Matrix Systems.
